Wood from the Hickman family is incredible. Their live sawn oak is an awesome option for someone looking for a wide board that is stable in almost any environment. It is a favorite among our clients and because it is so stable, we never have any issues with cupping or gaps. Their other specialty cut products like quarter sawn and rift sawn are incredibly consistent. Some mills will consider a board to be quarter sawn if only a small portion of it actually is. Not the Hickman’s! Their quarter sawn is all true quarter sawn and by far the best I have ever seen.

Here are some pictures we took after finishing the floors. We used waterlox toungue oil. Let me know if you would like more when we are finished – starting to hang trim now. Also would be glad to have you up sometime to see them. I think they are beautiful and we have had many compliments already.
P.S. We used the “West System” Epoxy to fill the knots.
