The coolest and most prestigious place I was able to visit was the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. York Construction Corporation was in charge of the project, and Sean Burke, the superintendent was kind enough to let me in and give me a tour of the building. The Lincoln Center is close to central park on the south west side; near the cross roads of Broadway and 65thstreet and they built an addition in 2010 on the rooftop of building 3, which has the Vivian Beaumont Theater and War Horse is currently being performed there.
When you enter into the lobby it you can see our beautiful AMHF rift & quartered 4” white oak floor installed by Haywood Berk Floor Company. The floor has a really dark oil stain as a finish creating a really dynamic look. Sean said that it is a really happening scene, with lots of people coming in and enjoying drinks and friends and I’m sure just talking about how beautiful the floors are they are standing on! The shows performed in this new theater are smaller for a more intimate show with the up and coming stars.
Here is a NY Times article that talks about the architecture of the renovations. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/21/arts/design/21lincoln.html?_r=2&pagewanted=1
I also visited the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens where we sent up 2 ¼ “ rift & quartered white oak for their visitor center that they did earlier this year. The floor was also installed by Haywood Berk Floor Company and it is really cool design. It reminded me of a leaf in the floor.
We also have flooring in the Trump Towers that was done in 2004, but I wasn’t able to arrange with anyone to find those. Donald never returned my calls. Lol. In all seriousness however, Donald Trump Jr. did come in 2004 to Emlenton, PA to visit the saw mill and see the flooring plant before they bought the flooring. He’s also a big hunter so he really enjoyed our showroom with all the deer heads on the walls. While I was walking around I did just stop at the building and talked to the doorman for a minute. The lobby area was marble, but the apartments have rift & quartered white oak herringbone.
We have built our reputation on our quality with the rift & quartered sawn white oak as well as being a FSC certified company. This has opened many doors for us in these big high end jobs and we are continuing to get new opportunities as our reputation grows.
We have the quality and reputation for these very high end prestigious floors, but we give just as much attention to the family who is building or remodeling their home here locally and want to have a beautiful floor in their home. We have quality beautiful floors for a wide range of budgets.
Right now the Andrew Carnegie Mansion located on 2 East 91st Street at Fifth Avenue in Manhattan is getting ready to install 6000 feet of 2 ¼ “ Rift & Quartered Clear Long Length White oak in this Smithsonian Museum. I’m excited to get back up to NYC to visit when that is finished. Hopefully I won’t get my car towed the next time!
